Former president of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo recently sent an 18 page letter to the current president Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the letter was expressly aimed at accusing Goodluck of encouraging corruption and of very poor governance. The letter also accused Goodluck of not keeping his promise not to run for a second term in office as campaign ads for 'Goodluck 2015' are already set in motion. OBJ stated that GEJ's methods are heavily flawed and he is running this country into the ground (a task OBJ failed to accomplish while in office).
By now the letter has begun to make its impact as politicians have begun to pick sides and everyone picking whichever reason best suits him to claim is the reason as to why OBJ wrote said letter and I'm not saying I know y why he wrote it (I'm not psychic) any of the two group may be right, the OBJ support group that claim he wrote it to correct his poor judgement of backing GEJ for office and that he that he wants to caution GEJ to mend his ways before it's too late, or the GEJ support group who claim GEJ refused to be influenced by OBJ causing OBJ to write the letter in complete bad faith and thereafter leaking it to the media.
Now looking at past events we can all agree that OBJ is not one to talk as he was almost as bad a leader as GEJ in his tenure. Recently due to the Mandela promise of staying only one term in office I found out that OBJ also made the same promise when he assumed his post, but we all know how that ended, he rigged his way into a second term and even wanted to bribe the lawmakers into letting him stay on for a third term as he tagged the election that year "A Do or Die Affair". And now he has the guts to speak to his protege from a moral high ground telling him to keep his promise of not staying past one term, of course such words from someone with such infinitesimal credibility will fall on deaf ears.
GEJ is a bad leader and is clearly ruining this country, OBJ was also a bad leader and he isn't anyone's shining beacon of hope. In this case he is the proverbial pot lashing out at the kettle probably for excluding him from the sharing of the national cake every politician wants to have a slice of. As if he hasn't had enough already.
P.S. I agree with the group that believes his motives are selfish, but the fact that I agree doesn't make it true but really when is OBJ not selfish?
