Gamer god

Daniel opened the door to his room for the first time in five months, just looking inside made him realise just how much he had missed it, his thoughtful sister had cleaned it up for him before he arrived, just one of the may reasons he loved her. After taking a shower and changing his clothes he turned on his TV and inserted cords for his Playstation 4 console, this he had missed the most. Daniel loved gaming and as far as he knew he was the best at almost every game he played, he reached into his backpack to pull out his latest trophy from his gaming wars, a Grand Theft Auto Crazy Special Edition CD and just below the GTA letters there was a symbol of a jester with a smiley face, he had never seen or heard of one before he won it two months earlier and couldn't find anything about it online when he searched and that just feed his anxiety meter, all those weeks of waiting it was finally time to enjoy this extremely rare video game.

Three hours of intense gameplay later Daniel was disappointed, the game was nothing like the Grand Theft Auto he was used to, he could control the characters the same way and move do close to anything with em just like GTA but once he finished the mission assigned to that character the game sets up a completely different location in a different city with a different character who had just one mission, and worst of all the game seemed to be set in Nigeria. There were no dots to connect and everything kept changing, it was fun at first when he thought there was a general theme to it but eventually he figured that wasn't the case so he stopped the game and started playing FIFA.

The next day he decided to check up on what was going on in the world through his ever reliable news source Linda Ikeji and two posts caught his attention,

Woman Knocks Out 3 Men As They Attempt To Rape Her

Civilian Beats Up Group of Soldiers As They Attempt To Harass Him

"Weird, these headlines perfectly match two of the missions i carried out on GTA" he thought,
Upon reading about them further he realised they both matched the details of the missions perfectly, the location, the deed, even the persons had an uncanny resemblance to the characters in the game. He was starting to get frightened, he searched wider on the web and found many more headlines fitting the same description as the game

Girl Stops Father From Committing Suicide In Uyo
Man Saves Baby In A Burning Building By Jumping Out A Fifth Floor Window In Lagos
Bank Security Man Kills Band Of Robbers In Delta
Teen Stops Suicide Bomber In Kano

Now he was visibly shaken, he told his mother about it but she didn't believe him, how could she, how could anyone. He went back to his room and kept playing, hours turned into days, days into weeks and he couldn't stop playing. He wrote down the details of each mission and cross refenced them with the news hours later, every mission he successfully completed he found in the news and those he didn't were nowhere to be found. He could only try out a mission once and each mission had an expiry date so he couldn't stop playing for too long because if he did, the mission is automatically a failure.

A mission came up where a man had to kill a rogue assassin and it was set awfully close to his house so he decided to try something, he made the man come into his area, moved him into his compound, moved him just outside his room all on the TV but when he tried to open the door a pop up showed with the message "RESTRICTED AREA". He looked outside his room window to find the man standing right there in front of his door, the sight startled him, he had expected it but it was nevertheless just as surprising. He really was controlling people with his video game, saving lives, crushing evil and creating peace all from the comfort of his room. It was a frightening thought, such power, such responsibility, how did it end up in the hands of a sixteen year old boy? He tried to recollect how he ended up with the game but he came up empty, strange, he had such a vivid memory of it right before he started playing the game, this wasn't like some fuzzy memory situation it was like that part of his memory was wiped clean, deleted. Everyone he controlled didn't recollect the event though some pretended to have been conscious the whole time during the interviews but he knew they were lying even if the world didn't.

After a few weeks Daniel's mom couldn't take it anymore, he refused to leave his room, all he did was eat, sleep and play that video game. She called a psychologist her friend recommended. He got to their place faster than she expected. He was a handsome man in his mid thirties, tall, dark skin with a full beard. He wore a blazer on a black tee with jeans a Vans sneakers. She was captivated just looking at him, he had to touch her arm and introduce himself to break her out of her trance, she updated him about the situation then directed him to her son's room.

After thirty minutes he came out with his blazer folded on his arm and with a sinister smile on his face and said to her
"He'll be alright, he's just having a light fun is all",
as he walked past her she noticed a tattoo of a jester with a smiley face and below it in Algerian print the letters
                                                       "LOKI"
